Massive Boost For Education In Atwina Mponua : Hon.Ibrahim Issahak Supports 1,000 BECE Graduates With Full SHS Essentials

For many parents in rural communities, seeing their wards through Junior High School is a big achievement, but the next hurdle  providing the long list of items on the Senior High School prospectus  often becomes a nightmare. It is this worrying situation that the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has moved to address in a grand style.

In what many have described as unprecedented in the history of the district, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak has once again shaken the internet and won the hearts of many after donating complete Senior High School packages to over 1,000 BECE graduates who are preparing to enter various Senior High Schools across the country.

The items, valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis, included chop boxes, student trunks, textbooks, exercise books, sanitary pads for female students, and assorted food items such as rice, oil, canned fish, and other provisions.

The colourful presentation ceremony held at Atwima Mponua, attracted chiefs, parents, teachers, students, Assembly Members, and officials from the Ghana Education Service.

In his address, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak explained that the initiative is part of his broader Educational Drive to support parents, reduce financial burden, and ensure that no child in Atwima Mponua is left behind due to poverty.

He noted that education remains the topmost priority of his administration and that investing in the youth is the surest way to secure the future of the district.

"We know the struggles our parents go through when their children are going to SHS. The chop box, trunk, and other items alone can stop a brilliant child from going to school. This support is to cushion parents and to boost the confidence of our students as they enter secondary school," he emphasized.

The DCE further disclosed that the Assembly will institute a comprehensive annual educational review and awards scheme. Under the scheme, best performing students from both BECE and WASSCE will be identified, honoured and supported with scholarships and other educational materials to motivate them to aim higher.

He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined, and make the district proud.

Some parents, who could not hide their excitement, told this reporter that the intervention is timely and has come as a huge relief. According to them, they were worried about how to raise money for the items, and the DCE's support has lifted a huge burden off their shoulders.

Beneficiary students also expressed gratitude, promising to study hard and bring honour to Atwima Mponua.

Officials of the Atwima Mponua District Education Directorate lauded the DCE, describing the gesture as a major boost to education that will increase enrolment, improve retention, and enhance academic performance in the district.
