Political scientist Mr Boakye Yiadom has called on the government to appoint independent-minded individuals to public boards and commissions to ensure fairness and impartiality.
Speaking on Sompa FM's Ade Akye Abia show with Ama Konadu, he noted that political party communicators, including those of the NPP and other parties, often defend their respective governments and party manifestos during media discussions.
He stressed that public boards and commissions should be made up of individuals who can operate independently of political party interests.
Mr Yiadom cited the Electoral Commission as a constitutionally mandated independent body responsible for conducting elections and referenda in the country, stressing the need to protect its independence.
Mr Yiadoam noted that successive governments had faced criticism over the appointment of known party loyalists to independent bodies, calling for future appointments to promote fairness, balance and impartiality.
