Presiding Members from the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions (formerly the Brong-Ahafo Region) have organized a conference to improve their leadership, oversight, and governance skills across local assemblies in Sunyani.
Mr Attah Kwasi Dognekoh Senior, the Bono Regional Dean for the presiding Members said that the primary goal of the workshop is to equip members with essential skills to oversee assembly operations, supervise ongoing development projects, and strengthen collaboration between Chief Executives, Ministers, and local assemblies. The training session also focused on leadership, financial reporting, and the responsibilities of the Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC).
Mrs Millicent Adu, presiding Member at the Tain District Assembly said their concerns regarding the delay in the disbursement of their allowances and logistics, calling on the government and the Ministry of Local Government to address their needs promptly.
Mrs Adu also raised concerns over the small number of female Presiding Members across the country, urging women to take up leadership roles in politics.
