Sunyani: Dealers in educational materials unhappy about poor sales in 2026/2027 academic calendar

Shop attendants and dealers in education materials in the Sunyani Municipality have expressed worry about poor sales, as the 2026/2027 academic begins.

They attributed the poor sales partly to the alleged sale of the educational materials in Senior High Schools (SHSs), calling for the government intervention.

In a random interview with Sompa FM in Sunyani, the sellers about the practice where some teachers forced boarding students to buy those items from the school and even at higher prices.

Comparatively, one of sellers said business was good in the last academic calendar, recollecting that sold about 500 pieces of school bags, however she had sold only 50 pieces of the bags this year.

According to them, many of the sellers were unable to payback their loans due to the poor sales, a situation which was gradually collapsing their businesses.
