Concerned residents at the Sunyani Zongo say they are worried about recurring pilling of waste in plastic containers placed at vantage points and thereby contributing to poor sanitation in the enclave.

They observed that such unsanitary practice defeated the motives behind the observance of the National Sanitation Day and called on the city authorities to do the needful, ensuring that waste containers were always empty.

In an interview with Sompa FM, Mr Yakubu Mohammed, a resident regretted that some of the containers piled up with waste and left unattended to many days.

Adwoa Serwaa, another resident also appealed to the city authorities to ensure that the refuse was collected regularly, saying that leaving them behind for more days could lead to outbreak of communicable diseases.
