Ghana Prisons Service emerged winners in the soccer competition of the Bono Regional Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) games held at the Sunyani coronation park on Friday, 24th April, 2023 after fiercely competing the Ghana Armed Forces in the finals of the football match.
The event organized by the National Sports Association in collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council and the Bono Regional Security Council brought together personnel from participating services namely the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Ambulance Service to compete in football, volleyball and tug of peace.ย
The Bono Regional Minister, Honorable Justina Owusu Banahene in her opening address said, the event serves as a reservoir of talents for various national teams due to the competition's potential to unearth talents in sportsmen and women. She revealed that, the event is aimed primarily at promoting friendship and solidarity among the security services and thus admonished participants to exhibit sportsmanship in the various competitions.
Addressing the participants, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Association, Mr. Foster Kwame Opoku Boakye said , the security services over the years have immensely contributed towards the development and promotion of sports in the country.
He further revealed that, the SESSA games since its inception has become a breeding ground for talent search in the various disciplines at the national level.ย
Mr.Foster Opoku Boakye thanked Enterprise Life Insurance and Eusbett water for sponsoring the event and also making the vision of organizing the first ever SESSA games in the region a reality.
At the end of the various competitions, the Ghana Armed Forces emerged winners in the volleyball competition while the Ghana Police Service won the Tug of Peace competition. The Ghana Prisons service won the football competition.
In attendance were the Bono Regional Minister, Honourable Justina Owusu-Banahene, the OIC/Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service, DDP. Williams Kulah , Bono Regional Police Commander, DCOP. Joseph Gyamerah Oklu, Commanding officer of 154 Regiment, Lt. Col. Obiri Yeboah, ACI. Prosper Atisu of the Ghana Immigration Service and the Deputy Regional Manager of Operations at the Ghana Ambulance Service, Principal AEMT Mills Eric.
