The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Ghana, Professor Peter O. Twumasi paid a working visit to the Bono Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority on Tuesday , 13th June, 2023.
The Director General’s visit was purposely to inspect and assess the Sunyani Coronation Park, and devise measures to ready the facility to meet the GFA Club Licensing Boards standards following the qualification of Bofoakwa Tano FC into the Premier League.
Professor Twumasi made a stop at the Regional Coordinating Council where he was warmly welcomed by the Bono Regional Minister, Honorable Justina Owusu-Banahene.
The Regional Minister in her welcome address showed appreciation for the visit and asked that the NSA together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports should do their best to give Sunyani a befitting stadium.
She stressed that, the Bono Region has been a hub of sporting talents and has produced many National athletes than any other region but lacks the right training facilities; therefore the Region needs a complex Multi-Purpose stadium to be able to train, develop and produce much more talents for mother Ghana.
“The Traditional Leaders have made available a 50-acre land purposely for the stadium project so if the government decides to start the building the stadium today, we’re ever ready” she said.
Professor Twumasi thanked the Regional Minister for the kind reception and assured her that the Government has plans to put up a stadium in the region. He then invited Honorable Owusu Banahene to join him inspect the Coronation Park.
The inspection team led by Professor Twumasi, comprised of reps from the Sunyani Traditional Council, Executives of Bofoakwa Tano FC, NSA staff, media and other stakeholders checked the pitch, VIP stands, regular stands, tunnel, score board, dressing room and the entire facility.
Professor Peter Twumasi after the inspection thanked the people for their support and contribution to the maintenance of the facility over the years and guaranteed that the National Sports Authority together with other stakeholders will do everything in their power for Bofoakwa Tano FC to play their first Premier League home match at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
