The Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, that Ghana’s year-on-year inflation rate recorded 41.2 percent for April 2023 relative to March 2023 at a rate of 45.0 percent.
The month-on-month inflation rate between March and April 2023 was 2.4 percent.
The Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim who made this known said this means that in the month of February 2023, the general price level was 52.8% higher than in the same period in 2022.
Food inflation has dropped to 48.8 percent with 50.8 percent for January 2023.
Inflation for locally produced items was 38.2 percent while that for imported items was 43.1 percent.
The Government Statistician also disclosed that the non-food inflation stood at the same rate as the previous month at 40.percent. The month-on-month non-food inflation was 0.7per cent.
The Western North Region recorded the highest inflation of 64.0% with the Volta region maintaining the record of having the lowest regional inflation of 28.0%.
