Former Presiding Member of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Abraham Boadi popularly called Opooman has on the National Executives to suspend the Ashanti Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi for openly declaring his support and campaigning for Mr. Bawumia as the idle flagbearer for the party and therefore must be elected.
His assertion followed after the chairman openly declared his support for Mr. Bawumia during a constituency chairmen's engagement at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi over the weekend in the party’s quest for a flagbearer adding that the chairman has violated the party's strife for unity after endorsing the candidature of Mr. Bawumia.
Abraham Boadi, a leading campaigner for Alan Kyerematen has condemned the action of chairman Wontumi and has threatened to petition the party leadership against his open campaign and chants.
According to Mr. Boadi, the chairman of the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party over the years has shown gross disrespect to the party’s structure and guidelines towards the rules and regulations guiding the pending flagbearership elections.
A circulated video of chairman Wontumi chanting BMW - Bawumia must win has gone viral and has received nationwide backlash.
Mr. Abraham Boadi said they are petitioning the party leadership for the gross misconduct of Chairman Wontumi, saying the chairman must resign from his post or be suspended indefinitely.
“We are petitioning the leadership to suspend him indefinitely, or better still he can resign honorably, we can't trust him to lead the region as the chairman for the pending flagbearership elections, he has already taken a side.
