Andy Owusu, personal aid to Chairman Wontumi has debunked the allegation leveled against Benard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a conversation with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, host of Ade Akye Abiaa show on Sompa TV.
In a rebuttal to the earlier conversation with Mr. Abraham Boadi on Sompa Tv on the chants by the regional chairman,Andy Owusu explained, there's an iota of truth in what Mr. Abraham Boadi said, however added that the statement has been misrepresented.
According to Mr. Owusu, the chants by the regional chairman were in response to the appreciation of the cedi to the dollar and the stability of the economy.
“The chants were not a campaign message, the Bawumia Must Win was a response to the win over the dollar, win over the influx of the economy, which of course Bawumia spearheaded so the chants were to praise the vice president for his winning mentality over the dollar and the economy”, he indicated.
He stressed that, "the critics of Chairman failed to find out from him what exactly the acronym BMW mean but they jumped into a conclusion that it is a campaign slogan. Omanhene, you would bear with me that the Ghanaian economy that was in crises is not witnessing some turn around, let me ask you, who is the head of the economic management team. So at the meeting Chairman Wontumi chanted BMW to preach to the world that Bawumia would surely win over the hardship that was in crises."
