A former Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile late Jerry John Rawlings’ administration and former Ghana’s ambassador to the United States, Daniel Ohene Agyekum, has called for calmness among the NDC faithful saying there should be a deliberation for consensus.
Commenting on the massive shakeup in parliament leadership of the NDC on Sompa Tv with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boachie, the diplomat said it has been a normal procedure for the party leadership to change parliamentary leadership since 1992 and sees no qualms with the shakeup however, he was worried about the number of insults rained on the leadership of the party on the decision taken.
According to him, as much as people have different opinions about the decision by the NDC leadership does not change the fact that the leadership of the party in parliament should stay on the front bench forever.
“My problem is, will they be there till eternity” since 1992, it has been a party leadership that determines who leads the parliamentary caucus, the point is, they should know that they will not be there forever.
He charged the followers of the removed leaders to embrace the decision of the party leadership and work in harmony with the newly appointed leadership.
He said the decision will have a ripple effect if all hands come on board and are devoid of castigations.
He shared the view that the party leadership knows what they are doing and he is hopeful that they will not mess up with decisions that will jeopardize the party's vision of recapturing victory in the 2024 general elections.
