The former Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party in the Mampong constituency, Honorable Addai Nimo has explained his vision to contest for the flagbearership position of the NPP in a conversation with Omanhene Adu Boakye on Sompa Tv/Fm socio-political morning show on Tuesday 14th February 2023.
Honorable Addai told the host that the NPP party needs a new face and direction to start the 5th republican constitutional governance after sharing 32 years with the NDC in the 4th republican Constitutional governance.
He said, after placing 3rd in the 2014 flagbearers race, the party faithful believe he has what it takes to lead the party because he was born a natural leader.
He further explains that his decision to contest for the Flagbearer is borne out of self-intuition and has been well received by his family, friends, and the party faithful.
He added that his record as a great leader dates back to his school days after becoming Students Representative Council deputy general secretary and src president at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, having previously held the position of Scripture union president at Navrongo SHS and assistant senior prefect at Kumasi Anglican.
According to him, his insistence on a new face for the party leadership going to the 2024 general election is based on records that do not favor a sitting government or Vice President.
“In 2000 when Professor John Evans Atta Mills was a sitting Vice President, he lost the race to J. A Kuffour, similar to Nana Addo Dankwah, when he was a minister of state but lost to John Mahama, and again in 2016 when former President John Mahama was a sitting president, he lost to Nana Addo Dankwah, based on this analysis” the trend is clear if we want to win 2024 elections, then we need a new face and it's Addai Nimo” he started.
