Mr. Benjamin Emmanuel Ephson, pollster and managing editor of Daily Dispatch News Paper says it’s a foregone conclusion to say Dr. Addo Kuffour can override former President Mahama in the NDC flagbearer race.
In a conversation with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Sompa Tv/FM morning show, Mr. Ephson disclosed that Mahama will automatically win over Mr. Kuffour if both compete for the slot.
Mr. Ephson disagrees that the elected running mate of Mr. John Mahama will automatically assume the position of flagbearer after the tenure of John Mahama.
He says delegates are unpredictable and could not be trusted for automatic replacement after Mahama.
“Since 1992, you can’t say a running mate will directly replace the substantive; there are dynamics and they are interchangeable”.
It’s best to probe further and research well on the right person to be the running mate, he added, the comparison between Mahama and Bawumia on who will win a majority in the Northern part, he said the NPP for the last 3 elections has increased their votes by 10% and that Bawumia candidature as the flagbearer of the NPP could worry Mahama.
He says for any of the candidates to win, their strongholds will be a factor.
For tribal balance, Bawumia if elected as the flagbearer will choose a running mate from Ashanti Region, according to Mr. Ephson, he continues to say that a survey conducted ahead of the NPP presidential slot reveals Dr. Bawumia will get the nod to represent the NPP as the flagbearer.
“Bawumia is leading, followed by Kennedy and Alan”, He revealed.
