The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Augustus Nana Akwasi has endorsed the candidature of former President John Dramani Mahama as the right man needed to wrestle power for the party and Ghana in the 2024 general election.

Speaking at Asawase to officially welcome the former President on stage to address the delegates during his campaign to the Ashanti region, Nana Akwasi reminded delegates that though other candidates are equally qualified to lead the party, the achievements of Mr. John Mahama makes him the right candidate for them win power in 2024.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman is among few Regional chairmen of the NDC suspected to have campaigned against Mr. John Mahama after rumours of the former leader campaigning against his re-election as the Chairman. 

The rumour was somehow believed when he was conspicuously missing during the launch of Mr. John Mahama's campaign in Volta Region with an excuse of having travelled outside the country.

But speaking today at Asawase to officially usher the former leader into the region for his 3 day tour of the Ashanti Region, the Chairman indicated that the delegates were already committed to maintain him to lead the party.

He entreated Mr. John Mahama not to worry himself since the region was ready to give him a 100% votes. He warned delegates that since the party has settled to give Mr Mahama a landslide victory no one should destroy the ballot by voting for any other candidate.

“Your Excellency, I can assure you that you have a 100% victory from the Ashanti regional delegates therefore we should start thinking and working hard towards how to take over in 2024 from Nana Addo's shambolic governance which was no longer offering hope to any Ghanaian”, he stressed.

He commended the entourage of the former President for their continuous support throughout his campaign.
