The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional party office on Monday, April 3, 2023, turned upside-down over the disqualification of Upper Denkyira West parliamentary aspirant, Ebenezer Quayson on grounds his seconders weren't up to the required number while filing for nomination.
The disqualified aspirant, exercising his displeasure over the situation told Sompa News reporter Eric Annan that the vetting committee led by the Region's NDC Chairman, Prof. Richard Kofi Aseidu asked him to step down for incumbent Member of Parliament, Lawyer Daniel Ohene Darko to go unopposed for his GH¢40,000 filing fee to be refunded to him.
A decision the aspiring candidate finds unfair by the Central Regional Vetting Committee together with the party's top hierarchy.
Chairman Abizi, branch chairman for Subin Electoral Area in the Upper Denkyira West constituency, speaking to the issue revealed how abysmal the incumbent MP has performed since his election to the parliamentary seat which has for years belonged to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the entrenched position by the vetting committee will contribute greatly to the loss of the seat.
A former DCE, MP, and parliamentary aspirant for Hemang Lower Denkyira constituency, Hon. Foster Andoh added that the NDC has become weak if aspirants can have their way in and around the party because of money.
He highlighted the concerns his camp levelled against fellow aspirant, Lawyer Seth Agyapong Mensah who they alleged to have legitimacy issues with his membership to the NDC but sailed through the vetting process without a single look into the matter.
