The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Ablekuma Central constituency, Jefferson Kwamina Sackey, has allocated a *GH¢100,000* fund to support women in business in the Ablekuma Central Constituency.
The Jefferson Care Women Empowerment Fund or Obaatanpa Dwedie Futuo, seeks to provide assistance to female Polling Station Executives who are into petty trading and small scale businesses.
For a start, applicants must be female NPP Polling Station Executives seeking start up capital or funds for business expansion.
The loan facility will range between GH¢500 to GH¢1000.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Mr Jefferson Sackey was hopeful that this interest free, soft loan facility will go a long way to support women, especially in these difficult times. He assured the women gathered that the programme begins immediately.
He introduced a 9 member trustee, made up of representatives of all seven electoral areas, an administrator and a Chairperson to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
As an orphan constituency, Mr. Sackey believes that this programme will empower our women and energize the base of the party by curing the rising apathy.
The launch which took place at his residence in Nmenmette was attended by several dignitaries of the party in the Constituency including former Member of Parliament, Hon. Victor Okuley Nortey, former NPP Constituency Chairman, Frank Akwesi Debrah,Some Constituency Executives of the party, Electoral Area Coordinators and party faithfuls.
Jefferson Sackey who is currently a Deputy Director of Communications at the Presidency has initiated a number of programmes within the constituency which include the Jefferson Sackey Welfare Support Programme, which is strengthening the Welfare of PSE’s, The Jefferson Care Health for All Programme, which has registered over 1,600 NPP faithfuls and Polling Station Executives onto the National Health Insurance Scheme, The Jefferson Sackey Education Support Programme, and the advancement of Youth and Sports within the constituency.
