The Assin North Constituency in the Central part of Ghana prior to its parliamentary by-election following the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to expunge its elected Member of Parliament, James Gyakye Quayson's name from parliament on grounds of dual citizenship has been flooded with road construction amenities like dulldozers, excavators among others.
The Assin North by-election as announced by the EC is slated for Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Meanwhile, the embattled MP, Gyakye Quayson amid his leveled lawsuit of holding allegiance to both Ghana and Canada has declared his intention to re-contest in the pending by-election.
Benjamin Esaah, the Assin North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman in an interview to Sompa TV/FM Eric Annan on the sudden road construction in Assin North said the party is only continuing from where it left off in 2020 and not doing so to score political points mainly because of the by-election.
He again declared two candidates being, Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei and Charles Opoku to have filed for nomination as at the party's closing day for nomination.
The Assin North NPP Deputy Youth Organizer, Lord Listowel Agyinsem on the by-election revealed his sheer confidence of the NPP claiming the parliamentary seat come June 27 as he preached for calmness among the youth.
Maame Ama Asantewaa Obeng, the Assin North NPP Women's Organizer advised party executives to vote for competency among the two aspirants who have filed for nomination to enable the NPP snatch power from NDC at Assin North in the by-election.
