The Assin North Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the end of its parliamentary primaries held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 have given aspirant, Charles Opoku an emphatic victory over counterpart, Frederick Freeman Amoah Kyei.
The primaries saw the NPP elect a flagbearer for the highly anticipated Assin North by-election slated for June 27.
The massively turned out election had 533 delegates from 99 polling stations exercise their franchise at the Assin Akonfudi Pentecost Church.
Frederick Freeman Amoah Kyei who laid top on the ballot paper at the end of the primaries pulled 136 out of the total valid votes cast.
Victor to the primaries, Charles Opoku on the other hand pulled 397 votes as 3 out of the valid votes cast got counted as spoilt ballots.
Justin Frimpong Kondua, National Secretary for ruling New Patriotic Party in climaxing the peacefully held election out poured his heartfelt appreciation to both security and EC personnel whose presence saw to the success of the primaries.
He again dished out to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to watch out for the NPP in the Assin North by-election.
Charles Opoku on his victory speech noted that his triumph in the primaries isn't what he aspire to achieve but for the NPP to claim victory over the NDC in the by-election hence entreated all to rally behind him to achieve that feet.
