Party gurus from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday, June 23, 2023 stormed the one-week celebration of Dora Afia Sarfo, the party supporter who met her untimely death last week at Dansame during former president, John Dramani Mahama's campaign at Assin North prior to its ensueing by-election.
The celebration witnessed party dignitaries like the National Chairman, Johnson Aseidu Nkatiah, the minority leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, Fiifi Faivi Kwetey, the General Secretary, Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, the Central Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Kofi Aseidu, James Gyakye Quayson.
Others are Prof. Joshua Alabi, Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, the NDC National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi among other Members of Parliament and NDC Executives joined sympathizers to grace the occasion.
The NDC at the one-week celebration presented the bereaved family with cartons of drinking water, assorted drinks and a cash donation of GH¢10,000 in support to the arrangement of the final funeral rites.
Johnson Aseidu Nkatiah having shared in the pains of the family, notified that the demise of the NDC supporter will forever be inscribed in the good books of the party.
He uncovered that the NDC as a political party, though honours the death of its deceased members, places much priority on the demise of those who dies at the verge of party assignment, thus will commemorate the death of its deceased comrade in grand style.
Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Isaac Adongo who spoke on behalf of the MP's that trooped to the one-week celebration, passionately appealed to constituents of Assin North not to render the selfless efforts of James Gyakye Quayson useless in the anticipated Assin North by-election.
However, former NDC flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Duffuor on Saturday, June 24 with his delegation led by Dr. Antwi Boasiako paid a courtesy visit to the surviving victims from the accident which claimed the life of Dora Sarfo at Asempanaye where a donation of GH¢3,000 was made to aid in their recovery process.
Dr. Antwi Boasiako, the former Eastern Regional Minister who on behalf of the delegation made the cash donation, bided the casualties a speedy recovery and commended their offered efforts to the NDC party which led to their accident.
Meanwhile, slated date for the final funeral rite of the deceased NDC supporter is scheduled for July 26, 2023.
The deceased NDC supporter left behind four (4) children of which two are boys and two girls.
