The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executives at Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency in the Central Region has appealed to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to invite their Member of Parliament, Hon. Theophilus David Vondee for interrogation over his fund embezzlement cited in the Auditor General's (AG) 2022 report.
According to them, the MP as stated in the AG's 2022 findings has been ordered to refund an amount of GH¢335,000 (3.35 billion old currency) which was entrusted into his personal bank account by the Twifo Atti-Morkwa Education Directorate from the district's Special Initiative Fund, meant for the renovation of some selected Basic Schools in the constituency which includes;
The Aboso D/A Basic School, Kenkuase D/A Basic School, Aklomam D/A Basic School, Tongo D/A Basic School, Tweapease D/A Basic School, Ashire M.E. Zion School, Nkohunohu D/A School, and the Osam Islamic Basic School.
They emphasized that the MP, having deceitfully acquired the aforementioned amount of money from the area's Education Directorate with the assurance to execute the purpose to which the money was sent, failed to carry out a single renovation works on any of these schools, with the money yet to be resend as ordered.
The Twifo Atti-Morkwa NPP Executives outlined all this in a press conference held at the constituency's party office in Twifo Praso.
Charles Amoako, the NPP Communications Officer for Twifo Atti-Morkwa addressing the media, told Sompa News Eric Annan that the party's leadership will embark on a massive demonstration if nothing concrete is heard from their MP over the issue at hand.
NPP Chairman for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr. Roger Oscar Tetteh, however, called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor to intervene in the matter as it recently did in the case of the immediate past Sanitation Minister.
Other party executives also accused the MP to be indulging in galamsey activities in the area. Something he once accused the NPP of and profusely preached against during his campaign.
