Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, a private legal practitioner and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has filed forms to contest the Sunyani West constituency seat of the party.
The Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans who filed her forms on Thursday afternoon is among four other individuals who have picked forms to contest the same position.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday, December 20, opened nominations for individuals seeking to represent the party in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.
The party has scheduled January 27, 2024, as the date for parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting MPs.
The nomination forms is be sold at GH¢3,000 while aspirants shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of GH¢35,000.
Women, Persons with Disability and the youth are granted a 50 per cent rebate on the filing fee.
She presented her forms to the party's election committee members at the party's office at Odomase, the municipal capital having completed all the requirements of the party.
Speaking to the media after the presentation of her forms, Lawyer Frimpomaa said, "I have not shown up to test my strength but to win the primaries and maintain the seat for the party."
She explained that, "the Sunyani West Parliamentary seat is traditionally a UP seat therefore I would not be the one to give it out to our political rivals, the NDC."
She admonished her supporters to desist from campaigning on insults.
"I would appeal to you all to ensure a decent language as we campaign, politics is about numbers therefore we need everyone on board for the bigger task ahead in 2024. We must not use abusive words against our opponents. We all belong to the elephant fraternity "
