Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, led by Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu has disclosed to welcome its very own, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang back to the region of her birth with a heroic four-day regional tour over her nomination as the party's running mate for the second consecutive time for the 2024 general election.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, a former University of Cape Coast Vice Chancellor, a once Education Minister and a proud indigene of Komenda in the Central Region, following her nomination as running mate for the NDC on Thursday, March 7, 2024, was in 2020 chosen as John Mahama's running mate, but unfortunately lost polls to the New Patriotic Party.
Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, the Central Regional NDC Chairman addressing the media at a press briefing held at the party's Regional Office in Cape Coast to commend John Dramani Mahama for settling on Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate, extended the party's regional leadership's profound gratitude to the NDC Council of Elders, the National Executive Committee, and the entire NDC fraternity for its overwhelming endorsement to have Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang renominated as running mate for the party.
He recounted that Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang brings on deck, decades of exceptional public service experience especially in the area of education, as her trademark in Ghana's education system, speaks volume of her during her reign as Education Minister under the then John Dramani Mahama's government.
The Central Regional NDC Chairman noted that as customary of the NDC, the party back home will officially welcome its 2024 running mate back to the Central Region with a four-day regional tour, scheduled to commence at the Awutu Senya East Constituency and end in Cape Coast.
During this period, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is said to use the opportunity to meet Chiefs, Imams, interact with market women and other stakeholders as she officially kick starts her campaign ahead of the 2024 general election slated for December 7.
He echoed the leadership's full commitment to working diligently to help the party win more seats in the Central Region and also win the presidential votes hands down, as he outlaid the party's leadership in the region to have no doubts whatsoever that Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang's partnership with John Dramani Mahama would be the magic wind that would bring a resounding victory to the NDC to make the huge public outcry for change a reality.
Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu further affirmed the region's NDC leadership solemn pledge to vigorously work hard to conquer the region for the party by wrestling power from the NPP at the national polls and securing the agenda of region's hierarchy of snatching 20 seats out of the region's 23 .
