The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to Ghana's 2024 general election has inaugurated its campaign team for the Central Region.
The team's core mandate is to ensure that power is entrusted again into the hands of the elephant fraternity at the end of the 2024 polls.
To this, the party's hierarchy require of the Central Regional campaign team to ensure that their effort towards victory for the NPP in the 2024 general election, reflect both in the region's presidential and parliamentary votes.
Party gurus like Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison, Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency, Justin Frimpong Kodua, the NPP General Secretary, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Martin, Member of Parliament for Effutu who doubles as the Majority Leader of parliament, Salam Mustapha, the party's National Youth Organizer together with the entire Central Regional NPP Executives, among others all trooped to grace the ceremony.
The NPP campaign team for the Central Region which was inaugurated by the party's General Secretary, has Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr, the Central Regional NPP Chairman as Chairperson for the team with Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister being his deputy.
Other members of the campaign team include Chairperson for the region's Council of Leaders, Chairperson for the region's Council of Patrons, all Regional Officers of the party, as well as the Central Regional NPP Secretary, Richard Takyi Mensah who will serve as General Secretary for the campaign team, as the party's hierarchy and flagbearer will make an addition of five (5) other members to the team.
The team equally has Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency as Head of the party's campaign team for the Coastal Belt, which comprises of Oti Region, Volta, Greater Accra, Central and the Western Regions.
Also, Mr. Clifford Osei Wiafe, Hon. Ike Lord Ennu, Faustina Baah, Laurencia Entsuah, Abena Agyapomah Kumi Korsah, Hon. Lauren Adutuah, Hon. Kojo Asumani, Lawyer Michael Atta-Dadzie, Dr. John Kofi Mensah, Hon. Ransford Kofi Gakpo, Uriel Ewusi, Hon. Asiedu Agyemang, Hon. Felicia Amissah, and Kwabena Moses forms part of the Central Regional campaign team.
Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Martin at the ceremony addressed party members to inculcate the habit of forgiveness, having cited that the Convention People's Party (CPP) is practically defunct at the moment due to the party's unending litigation matters.
He described the 2024 general election to be a poll of two competing ideas of the NPP and NDC, which undisputedly is the reality to Ghana's general election in present times.
According to the Majority Leader, a survey conducted earlier this year, depict that Ghanaians detest the NDC and John Dramani Mahama from been elected again as president of the country, but warned that should the NPP relinquish on working hard for power, will have the NDC benefit from some disappointments of the party.
General Secretary for NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua noted the party to have constituted four different teams assigned for the inauguration of the party's campaign teams across all 16 regions of the country.
He recounted that as General Secretary of the party, he made a strategic decision to personally carry out the inauguration of four regions across the country which include the Greater Accra Region, Central Region, Western, and the Western North Regions.
Justin Frimpong Kodua ascertained that should the NPP laugh or cry after the 2024 general election, will depend on these four regions.
The affable politician further asserted to party members of the Central Region to forget about power, should they approach election 2024 with disunity and unforgiving hearts.
He urged the rank and file of the party in the region to let go of every harboured pains and reconcile with one other for the sack of the party's prioritized victory towards the December 7 election.
The NPP going into election 2024, can only boost of 10 parliamentary seats in the Central Region out of the region's 23 seats which they seek to increase. Whereas, its political arch-rival, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also intends to secure 20 seats in the region by the end of the 2024 polls.
The Central Region with regards to Ghana's general election, has for a couple of years now turned to be a swing region. Hence, the two leading political parties in the country's fierce rivalry to have the region go their way, both in the parliamentary and presidential election.
