The Ashanti regional Chapter of the NPP Blue Queens has called on the President, the Vice President and the National Executive Committee of the NPP to ensure a woman running mate was chosen to partner Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the run up to the 2024 general elections.
The group assured the party that the women in the party would automatically rally behind the party and insist it would brighten the chances of the party’s fortunes of winning the elections.
Speaking to the media in a Press Conference today in Kumasi, the Secretary of the Ashanti regional chapter of NPP blue queens Madam Cynthia Faustina Asantewaa said a ticket of a man and woman ticket would be the best for the party looking at the dynamics of Ghanaians’ politics in recent times.
She retorted that their choice for a female running mate has no direct association with the NDC’s choice of Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman adding the party has a better personality in the NPP to beat both John Mahama and his running mate.
She appealed to the party to give their call a meaningful consideration adding that the party picking any woman from any part of the country would be a perfect opportunity for the NPP’s fortunes.
She emphasized that their calls for a female running has nothing to do with NDC choice of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman as John Dramani Mahama but insisted that there were competent women which could be chosen from any part of the country.
He further recounted that a choice of a female running mate would their quest to retain power more easier compared a man, whom Ghanaians have them since the 1992 republican constitution.
The ruling NPP flag bearer is yet to nominate his running mate which has heightened the internal politics of the party in recent times with notable names such as Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum and chief of Staff Hon. Akosua Fremah Opare as the leading contenders to partner Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
Madam Cynthia Faustina Asantewaa who failed to mentions of the particular female they want as a running mate, recommended that a female running mate with a strong Christian background would go a long way to ensure the NPP break the eight at all costs.
