The Vice Presidential Candidate for opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has disclosed reasons why the National Research Fund bill was never passed under her watch as Education Minister.
According to her, John Dramani Mahama provided leadership through the Ministry of Education to initiate a bill in Parliament for the establishment of the National Research Fund, which was misrepresented as move to scrub the book and research fund.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, however, indicated that the NDC is still committed to the national research fund and will ensure that it becomes operational when the party is voted back to power in 2025.
She made this known when she was made to address students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and some Senior High School Students on behalf of her presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama during the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana's (GRASAG) maiden presidential policy lecture held at UCC.
National President for GRASAG, Emmanuel Owusu on the motive behind his outfit's organization of the presidential policy lecture, recounted that as Ghana prepares for the 2024 general election, deems it appropriate for youths in the country to know which party to vote for based on its shared policies.
Thus, the creation of a platform to have various presidential candidates in the country share their views and policies, particularly on education to the masses.
He assured that having hosted the flagbearer of the NDC on its presidential lecture, will in subsequent months host other flagbearers of various political parties in the country to hear of their divergent views towards enhancing Ghana's eduction.
