Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured to restore total power back to chiefs in the country under his government as president of Ghana.
He described chiefs to be the true custodians of the land, its history, culture and tradition. Hence, sidelining them in the rule of governance, to him will create a big problem to government, which is what the present government is facing.
The veep made this statement in his presidential tour to the Central Regional House of Chiefs on Monday.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his address at the Central Regional House of Chiefs, assured to review Section 63 (G) of the Chieftaincy Act to reinstate power back chiefs in the country.
He recounted to warm up discipline in the society, and as such will restore power back to the chiefs to help government sanitize the system.
According to him, many cases which goes through the normal court system, can be resolved at various palace in country and need not go through court.
He then assured to place queen mothers, divisional chiefs and paramount chiefs in Ghana on a living allowance in other to cushion them in their assistance to the governance of the country.
Bawumia on the legalization of LGBTQ, recounted never to accept that which poses security threat to the development of the country, as LGBTQ appears non negotiable to him.
