Northern caucus for Bawumia, a volunteer group in the Bono region whose aim is to basket all Northern settlers in the region and beyond into the elephant fold for purpose of breaking the eight, has rooted for the endorsement of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the proposed running mate for Dr Bawumia in the 2024 general elections.
The group also commended the NPP flagbearer for listening to the call of the masses and imposing his confidence in the Manhyia South MP.
“We would like to take this opportunity to first of all commend H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for identifying the potentials in Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, and hence proposing him as his running mate subject to national council consideration. We are very grateful to Dr Bawumia for adhering to numerous voices including that of the (NC4BAWUMIA).”
Speaking at a press conference in the Bono regional capital Sunyani on Wednesday July 3, Mr Issah Ibrahim, secretary of the group described NAPO as a very hardworking, affable, and dedicated to duty.
“Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has an exemplary record of public service and leadership accomplishments.
As the Minister of Education, he implemented significant reforms that have transformed our educational systems. His efforts in championing the Free Senior High School policy have enabled countless young Ghanaians to access quality education, laying the foundation for our country's future development.”
The Northern Caucus for Bawumia also appealed to the National Council to approve his nomination devoid of but's & If's.
He indicated that, “NAPO's unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in his professional and political career. With a background in medicine and years of experience in various governmental roles, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to navigate through complex challenges and deliver tangible results. His dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians is paramount.”

The group stressed, the choice of Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia is a testament to the commitment to building a brighter future for Ghana, saying together, they can address the challenges facing our nation and capitalize on the opportunities that lie ahead.
“It is worthy to note that the misunderstanding between the camp of NAPO and that of Chairman Wontumi has been resolved amicably by our indefatigable presidential candidate, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We are therefore confident that with NAPO as the running mate the NPP shall break the 8, for the continuity of good governance and lead Ghana towards a new era of prosperity.”
