Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Gomoa West District in the Central Region, Alhaji Mohammed Kassim has been detained at the Bakaano Police Station in Cape Coast by the Central Regional Police Command.
This follows an emanated clash between party members of the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during commissioning of the District Roads Improvement Projects (DRIP) at the Gomoa West District Assembly on Monday.
The NDC Chairman according to information gathered by Sompa News Eric Annan, was arrested at Apam Junction on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, by the Central Regional Police Command upon tipoff.
Alhaji Mohammed Kassim's arrest follows himself, his Member of Parliament, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah and some party supporters storming the Gomoa West District Assembly during the official launching of the DRIP machines to have the District's NPP Parliamentary Candidate and DCE, Hon. Bismark Beasie Nkum to remove his pictures from the commissioning machines, thereby interrupting the ceremony.
Sources reveal that the charge for which the Gomoa West NDC Chairman was arrested since yesterday, hasn't been said by the police, amid his detention for 24hours now.
