A group of university lecturers known as University Lecturers For Improved Free SHS have shed light on H.E John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) agenda on reviewing the Free Senior High School policy.
According to the group, reviewing of the Free SHS policy is the trend Ghana presently needs to recycle the country's secondary education.
They made this vindictive statement through a press conference held on Thursday, 28th November, 2024 at the School of Business conference room of the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region.
Prof. George Kwaku Toku Oduro, Convenor for the group and the NDC's Manifesto Spokesperson on Education who appears as a former Pro-Vice Chancellor for UCC, admonished that NDC seeks the best for the future of Ghana's education system and not to jeopardize it as seen of the NPP.
"When the NDC is entrusted with leadership responsibility, it will ensure that educational systems work to champion the cause of quality and equitable teaching and learning."
He refuted the negative assertion of the NPP about the review policy of H.E John Dramani Mahama.
"We encourage the suffering people of Ghana not to buy into the lies being spread by the NPP against H.E. John Dramani Mahama that he will cancel the FSHS. Maham will rather improve the Free SHS and make it more beneficial to young ones, particularly those from poor backgrounds." he noted.
Professor George Kwaku Toku Oduro drew the attention of the general public that a vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is a vote for the protection and continuation of the distortion of Ghana's educational system.
The press conference was held to debunk an earlier group of lecturers belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by name University Lecturers For Free SHS who made some misrepresentations against the flagbearer of the NDC, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.
The group, through it's convenor, Professor Isaac Boadi, Dean of the School of Business, University Of Professional Studies (UPSA), questioned how Mahama who has consistently opposing the Free SHS policy, could be entrusted to manage it effectively if given the chance.
