The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan has described her region to be calm and peaceful throughout the year, particularly ahead of the 2024 general election slated for Saturday, December 7.
She applauded the Regional Security Council for its sterling efforts in having the Central Region experience the peace and calm it presently enjoys.
Hon. Justina Marigold Assan made this assertion at the last Regional Co-ordinating Council Meeting for the year on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
She chanced on the opportunity to acknowledge the commitment and dedication by members of the Council throughout the year and the support the Council has received of its stakeholders, particularly from the traditional authorities.
The Minister observed that the watchfulness of members of the Council has contributed to the collective effort to ensure peace in the Central Region.
ACP Iddrisu Tanko of the Central East Police Command in an address delivered on behalf of his Commander, DCOP Owusu Bempah on the police preparedness towards the upcoming election in the region, uncovered that a number of 1422 police personnel have been deployed to various polling stations to ensure peace on the day of election.
He added that a total of 17 rapid deployment forces have been formed to attend to distress calls as the election progresses.
ACP Tanko again reiterated the police command's readiness to contain any act of thuggery in the region before, during and after the election, having been monitoring the activities of a number of suspected thugs in the region.
