Former President and NDC flagbearer Mr. John Dramani Mahama has reassured the people of Ashanti Region that he would make development of Ashanti region a major priority once he is voted for on Saturday general elections.
He noted that the Ashanti Region as the second most populous capital of Ghana deserves all or similar monumental edifice constructed in the capital to help reflect the region’s socio-developmental agenda adding that the NDC under his first term showed similar resolve and he should not be doubted.
He cited that the phase two of the Prempeh International Airport should have been completed but because of change of government it was delayed for over four years until now adding that similar projects dotted across the country should have been completed but the Nana Addo government had abandoned most of them.
Former President, who made the pronouncement during a call to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia today, rallied the chiefs at the palace to support his call for change of government since the NPP government upon its myriads of promises has plunged Ghana in deep economic pit.
He accused the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration of burdening the country with exacerbated conditions of life after borrowing billions of loans only to make Ghana a pauper shadow of its former self.
He posited that the NPP government borrowed 11.5 billion cedis in a spate of five years but the expected commensurate growth cannot be said of huge debts we are currently wallowing in emphasizing that the time has come for everyone to support his call for change of direction as a country.
He bemoaned that the current international tag of Ghana being discredited by its creditors due to our failure to pay back debts was making Ghana a laughing stock in the business community insisting that the country would require a leader of his caliber to change the fortunes of the country.
