Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin has expressed disappointment in the revocation of recruitment and appointment by the Mahama led administration made by the previous Akufo Addo government.
Raising the matter on the floor of parliament, the MP for Effutu constituency in the Central region noted that the president in 2017, particularly May 26 2017, At 7.12 p.m., former president John Dramani Mahama, as he then was, tweeted about the bad precedent by the former NPP administration of the mass sacking of workers as unacceptable.
He goes further at 7.13 p.m., the same evening lamenting workers are all citizens and like all Ghanaians, have rights which must be protected.
The Effutu Legislator therefore stated that he would borrow the words of the president he said in 2017 that the current workers are all citizens and like all Ghanaians, have rights which must be protected.
However, majority leader Mahama Ayariga responding to the minority leader’s submission, clarified that the NPP administration had made reckless requirements despite objections that was raised during the transition meetings held.
He further stated that the NPP government decide to load the public sector with workers so that the incoming government will come and inherit such workers and struggle with how to pay them.
