Bedabour Gets New CHPS Compound To Boost Healthcare Delivery

Residents of Bedabour and surrounding communities in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region now have access to improved healthcare following the commissioning of a new CHPS Compound in the area.

The facility was commissioned by the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, at a colourful ceremony attended by traditional leaders, health officials, assembly members and a large number of residents.

The new CHPS Compound, which is fully furnished and equipped to provide primary healthcare services, is expected to bring a major relief to the people of Bedabour who for years had to travel long distances to seek medical attention.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak said the project was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund as part of the Assembly's agenda to bring quality and accessible healthcare to the doorstep of every resident, especially those in remote areas.

He explained that the facility is now fully operational with qualified nurses posted to provide 24-hour healthcare services to the community.

According to him, the compound will handle cases such as maternal and child health, minor ailments, health education and first aid, and will also serve as a referral point for major cases.

"For a very long time, our mothers, children and the aged in Bedabour had to walk several kilometres to access healthcare. This was not good enough. Today, we have brought healthcare to your doorstep. The nurses are here to work 24 hours, so I urge you to patronize the facility and cooperate with them," he stated.

Hon. Issahak further advised residents to take ownership of the project, ensure regular maintenance, and keep the facility clean to ensure it serves its intended purpose for a long time.

On their part, the Chief and people of Bedabour expressed profound gratitude to the DCE and the Atwima Mponua District Assembly for the kind gesture. They described the project as a dream come true and pledged to take good care of it.
