The Sunyani Traditional Council (STC) has sworn in Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area as the President of the STC.
Odeefour Korkor II's swearing-in followed his gazette by the National House Chiefs on Thursday July 30, 2026 in accordance with the Chieftaincy Act.
Her Ladyship Jennifer Pokua Amponsah, the Sunyani Circuit Court Judge took the chief through the Oath of Office and Secrecy at a colourful ceremony held at the Nana Bosoma Royal Palace in Sunyani.
The ceremony was witnessed by government officials, chiefs and queens, security agencies and sections of the public.
Nana Kwaku Sarbeng Ababio, the Akwamuhene (sub-chief) and the Acting President of the STC handed-over official documents to the Paramount Chief and wished him a peaceful reign.
In his acceptance speech, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II thanked the entire people of Sunyani, the security agencies and the Bono Regional Peace Council for their support.
He pledged to serve the people in diligence and in humility and to facilitate the holistic development of the traditional area.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan en Korkor II urged the three royal gates of the Boahen Royal Family, the occupant of the Sunyani Traditional stool to bury their differences, forge ahead in unity for the purpose of development.
The Paramount Chief cautioned illegal sale of the Sunyani traditional lands, warning that culprits would be sanctioned accordingly, and advised the people against putting structures and buildings in waterways and flood prone areas.
Odeefour Ogyemansan Korkor II also cautioned the sub-chiefs against the temptation of selling the Sunyani cemetery lands and engaging or aiding mining popularly known as 'galamsey' warning that perpetrators would be sanctioned too.
