Blankson Gyan, Administrative Manager of Ahafo Kenyasi based Unity FC has asked the public to disregard any claim that the team was involved in an accident.
Richmond Osei, Club President of Unity FC has attributed their failure to honour their last two matches to the accident involving the team a day before the match.
Unity FC was scheduled to play Nkoranza Warriors on Sunday January 1 and B.A United on Sunday January 8 but the team failed to show up on the pitch after their playing rivals waited for hours.
Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Atta Twum Barima, host of Sompa Sports on Sompa 98.9FM in Sunyani on Tuesday January 10, said the accident led to the management losing one player.
"We failed to honor our last two (2) matches in the Access Bank Division One League because we were involved in an accident a day before our game against Nkoranza Warriors", he explained.
But the administrative manager told host, Akwasi Atta Twum Barima on same show Tuesday that the claim by Mr Osei is false and it seeks to cover up his inability to play the game.
"It's never true that we've had an accident. The team only failed to honor the matches."
"The club President, Richmond Osei only called one technical team member called Latif to get some players to a nearby hospital and took pictures for him to send to the GFA alleging that they are involved in an accident", he indicated.
"The person who died is called Obour Emmanuel, he was a Prison Officer who was playing for the team but he died through motor accident after he had closed from work as an officer."
"All what he said on Sompa FM that the team had an accident is a lie, and I won't risk my life to join the team again", Mr Gyan observed.
