The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has announced the restoration of power supply to affected communities in Sunyani following the repair of a faulty transformer that disrupted electricity distribution in recent days.
Mr. Francis Offei, a member of the Maintenance Department at NEDCo in Sunyani, explained that the fault made it necessary for NEDCo to introduce a temporary load-shedding timetable to help consumers plan their activities while repair works were ongoing.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Ama Konadu on ‘Adea Akye Abia’ morning show at Sompa FM-Sunyani, Mr. Offei confirmed that the defective component responsible for the outage has been fixed, leading to the modification of the previously announced load-shedding timetable.
“We have been able to fix the component which was faulty. As we speak, it has modified the timetable we brought out for the meantime,” Mr. Offei said. “We have fixed it and now everyone is expected to have light in their various houses.”
He apologized to consumers for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected power outages, stressing that the situation was not deliberate.
“We apologize to everyone due to the current light-off situation they experienced. It is not intentional. One of our transformers developed a fault, as we discussed during our press conference yesterday,” he explained.
Meanwhile, NEDCo had introduced a temporary power timetable to help residents plan their daily activities while engineers worked to resolve the issue.
“We have been working on it, but we needed to put out a timetable for everyone to know when they would have light and when they would not, so they could plan their lives,” he added.
He further assured the public that electricity supply has now been fully restored across the network.
“Every consumer is connected now. If you don’t have light, it may be a peculiar issue, and we will resolve it,” Mr. Offei said, encouraging affected customers to report any isolated problems to NEDCo for prompt attention.
NEDCo has reiterated its commitment to ensuring reliable power supply and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation during the outage.
