The minister for Works and Housing who doubles as the member of parliament for Bantama constituency, Honorable Asenso Boakye, has today cut sod for the continuation of a state-of-the-art police house at Ohwim which he estimated at 225,000 Ghana cedis.
In a brief ceremony held at Ohwim, the Queen-mother of Ekoso, Oheneyere Ama Achiaa the first said the vision for the construction of the police house was ignited by her daughter, Nana Ama Achiaa the 2nd and received support from Hon Okyem Anoagye who was then the MP for the constituency.
According to the queen’s mother, the project halted after the member of parliament lost his seat to Mr. Asenso Boakye. She thanked the minister for the continuation of the project and asked for more.
Bohyen district police commander Hilda Akarianga, called on citizens to be law-abiding and asked that the people become friends of the police and alert them on any suspected foul play within and around the community.
Addressing the insecurity concerns in the constituency, the minister hinted, that it is a major concern on how rampant daylight robbery has become in the constituency.
We all know about pickpocketing daylight robbery ongoing in our communities, this is a major headache, it’s the reason I am putting up this structure for the police so they can protect my people, he said.
The building which is at the lengthens will see a new face after completion, it is estimated to cost 225, 000 Ghana cedis and is under construction by a local contractor.
