Ghanaian musician and creative icon, Wanlov The Kubolor, has opened up about his early musical influences, revealing that Western hip-hop played a major role in shaping his artistic journey.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz 103.9 FM’s, DaybreakHitz show, Wanlov shared that during his formative years, he was more drawn to hip-hop sounds from the West than to local Ghanaian music.
“Growing up, I listened to Western hip-hop songs more,” Wanlov said, adding that the genre’s lyrical depth, rhythm, and creativity inspired his unique musical direction.
The outspoken artist, known for his unconventional style and thought-provoking lyrics, has long been celebrated for blending diverse sounds and storytelling elements in his music.
