Speaking on the theme” Information Technology and the way forward for Africa under the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, at the Awards night, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Hon. Ama Pomaa Boateng who spoke on behalf of the sector minister delivered the keynote address on Digital challenge:
Africa’s opportunity under AfCFTA, reiterated that, Digitization and Digitalization is the way forward to facilitate the flow of goods, ideas and capital to bolster innovation in the public, private and third sectors of Africa.
According to the chairman of Technovate Awards, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, the Africa Technovate Awards is AIDEC’s unique contribution to the development and uplifting of technology and digitalization across Africa.
He opined that, the awards aims to motivate and challenge technology and innovation companies that are driving digital solutions development and those adapting them to business.
Mr. Ashigbey further explained that, as Africa advances regional trade links under AfCFTA, increase competition will call for customer centricity, speed to market and innovative solutions to addressing conventional problems.
The Chairman stated that, the awards program was launched in August 2021 and attracted 125 entries from Ghana and five other countries-Nigeria, Gambia, Kenya, South Africa and Liberia.
“The screening and short-listing process was well laid out and thoroughly followed by the research and Evaluation Committee which comprises initially reviewing all entries to confirm the existence of the companies, ensuring sector competing for corresponds with the activities of the company and verifying the information provided” he explained.
The Chairman of AIDEC Group, Prof. Robert Yennah in his foreword explained that, Africa Technovate Awards Fair is in consonance with the mission, among others with AIDEC Group in providing digital solutions to public, private and the third sectors of the economy to promote growth.
He expressed that, Africa Technovate Awards & fair was undertaken to identify, recognize and award technology companies across Africa for their contribution to the development of technology in Africa for business efficiency and efficacy.
