Chief Executive Officer of Ghana COCOBOD, Mr. Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has revealed that it was very sad and worrying to hear some people from the opposition party saying the cocoa rehabilitation program has collapsed and government is spending huge sum of money without benefitting from the policy.The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana COCOBOD, Mr.Joseph Boahen Aidoo is on a day tour to the Western North Region to inspect the cocoa rehabilitation exercise in Kumikrom, Bankyiase and Yawmatwa in the Western North Region , which started in 2018 and the benefits yielding in the cocoa sector.
In an interview with Sompaonline.com, he stated, that cocoa farmers in Western North Region and for that matter Ghanaians should reject the lies and propaganda peddled by some elected MPs in the Western North.
He furter asked farmers to focus on the positive impact on the rehabilitation program since cocoa farmers did not know the virus from the onset, but with prudent measures put into action by COCOBOD and this current government, it has yielded positive results.
Mr. Joseph Boahen Aidoo, who is installed as cocoa development chief (Nkosohene), at Sefwi Bekwai Cocoa District in the Western North, thanked Nananom,cocoa farmers, workers, and residents for their massive support and also appeal to farmers to release their farms affected by the swollen shoot disease.
Mr. George Gyapong, who spoke on behalf of the cocoa farmers expressed his gratitude to COCOBOD and Government for the tremendous work done and promise to work harder for government’s vision to come to the realization. He is expected to hit Southern parts of the Region on Wednesday to complete his tour.
