A MEMBER SHALL NOT ABSENT HIMSELF DURING A MEETING FOR MORE THAN FIFTEENG SITTINGS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION IN WRITING OF THE SPEAKER. ANY MEMBER INFRINGING THIS ORDER SHALL HAVE HIS CONDUCT REFERRED TO THE PRIVILEGES COMMITTEE.
The majority leader in parliament has elaborate on the absence of Hon Adwoa Sarfa from parliament, in a conversation with Omanhene Adu Boakye on Sompa TV, the majority leader in parliament cleared the air that the member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya electoral area did not seek permission from his office as majority leader.
“Adwoa did not seek permission from me before she travelled for the first time, but we communicated, she told me about her son’s health condition which was preventing her from coming, so she was seeking the health of her son, eventually, the son was treated, but she claimed she needed sometime for her son to recover, that was the conversation we had as at that time. he said.”
“Whether it was true or not, as vice president said, you and I were not there. he quizzed. I even pleaded on her behalf because of her son, but she overstayed, from July to November, that’s six months, she kept swindling, some people were not privy to this information, that’s why I kept pleading on his behalf until she eventually came during the reposition of the budget. He posited.
“It took about 4 days to complete the budget appropriation act, we needed the numbers so she stayed until we finished the process and she returned back to the states because she told us her son was still not well’ she promised to return back after 4 days but she didn’t come.
She sent a letter to the speaker of parliament after the Christmas break requesting for 30 days sitting break, I got a copy of the letter through her personal aid so in fact, I was disappointed.
After speaker referred her to the privileges committee, she once again requested for another 90 days. ‘Did she actually demanded for the position of deputy majority leader in parliament? the host asked.“Yes, she demanded for the position but she can’t force the president, because before she was sworn into office as the minister for gender, children and social protection, we had a deliberation with the president and she thanked the president for the position so I don’t see why she’s doing that. She even seeks my blessings because she was
my deputy before she was appointed as gender minister, He reiterated.
The member of parliament further revealed that there are internal issues which is not good for public consumption regarding these issues, he said.
