Board Chairman for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hegan has assured on having the state entity acquire a new face and a reset under his stewardship.
According to him, the era of harassing individuals to comply to paying taxes, now falls in the past.
Hon. George Ricketts-Hegan in view of this, has encouraged the adoption of a friendly mode of taxation in other to aid GRA have a smooth mobilization of revenue since tax paying comes as a big deal for citizenry to comply.
The GRA Board Chairman who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader in parliament and MP for Cape Coast South, made this assertion during a GRA visit on staff members in the Central Region on Tuesday to find the best and innovative ways to diligently carry out their duty.
He again observed the need for an effective tax mobilization since that is the sole source of funding to all government projects.
He assured Ghanaians to look forward to a GRA with less or none revenue linkages, but a discipline, committed, fair, educative and a responsible GRA under his supervision as Board Chairman which intends making Cape Coast a Regional Headquarters of GRA with infrastructural enhancement to create more avenue for employment.
Commissioner General for GRA, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong in an engagement with Sompa TV's Eric Annan described his visit to the Central Region to be in line with President John Dramani Mahama's resetting agenda.
He reiterated that the visit further intends to motivate staffs of GRA in the region to be zealous in the discharge of their duty to cushion the president place the country in the developmental pedestal he aims at.
The visit which saw the GRA Commissioner General and his Board Chair pay a visit to the GRA office in Cape Coast-Pedu, the Regional Coordinating Council and the Emintsimadzi Palace, later visited the bereaved families of affected victims of the collapsed building incident in Cape Coast with consolatory messages and a cash donation of GH¢100,000 to all bereaved families.
