Paramount Chief of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area in the Central Region, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X has implored politicians in the country, particularly the current administration lead by H.E John Dramani Mahama to make chiefs powerful as they were before.

He added that because politicians have taken away their power, children nowadays do not respect anymore. 

He bemoaned that when a chief sends for someone for misbehaving in the community, the person can bluntly decline to the call because he or she has a lawyer and the backing of a political party.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh, however, urged chiefs to respect themselves and reciprocate it everywhere they go in other for the next generation to follow their footsteps.

He made this statement at the 2025 Nyakrom Akwanbo festival dubbed: "Salvaging Declining Social Values; A Shared Responsibility of Government and Traditional Rulers.

He further added that the government should upgrade their hospital to a polyclinic status in other to upgrade the facility since male and females are admitted in the same room. Adding that President John Dramani Mahama is aware of the state of their hospital so he should come to thier aid.

Okofo Katakyi also appealed on government to give them a new district with Agona Nyakrom as the district capital. Emphasizing that creating a new district will help foster enough development in the area.
