Hundreds of women in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District in the Central Region have benefited from a skill training organized by Pennyman Foundation and Billy Trendy Wigs, both non-governmental organizations but poised to empower and enhance the livelihood of women through skilled work.
Miss Gifty Adoboah, CEO of Billy’s Trendy Wigs in a media engagement, disclosed to be training women over challenges they often face.
On the relevance of the training, she noted that even doctorate degree holders are nowadays chasing after skills training to add to their qualifications to better their lives.
Miss Adoboah recounted that the skills training focus on teaching these women on wig making, soap making and make-up.
Odeefour Amoakwa Boadu VIII, the Central Regional House of Chiefs President who doubles as Paramount Chief of Breman Traditional Area at the event shared excitement that youths in the district are getting skills to take care of themselves.
He said that the training well fits into the traditional council's 5-year development plan which focus on agriculture, tourism, revenue mobilization and skills training for the youth.
He said their first development plan is on youth or women empowerment which Penyman Foundation have come to their aid, having urged all participants to learn whatever they have chosen to learn since there will be Breman Expo this year to market products in the district.
Some participants which includes queen mothers who couldn't hide their joy, thanked Miss Gifty Adoboah and Pennyman Foundation for their support to women in the district.
Adding that the program has help polish their work since some of them already had a limited knowledge on the respective skills been trained on, as the training again comes as an opportunity to become bosses of their own.
