The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm and narcotic drugs at Odumase in the Sunyani West Municipality of region.
Acting on intelligence, Police moved to the residence of the suspect, Collins Kyeremeh and conducted a search.
A statement signed by the Bono regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah said, a polythene bag containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was retrieved from the ceiling of his bathroom.
"During preliminary interrogation, the suspect initially denied possessing any firearm but later admitted and led the Police to an uncompleted building near his residence, where a Makarov pistol and four rounds of 7.62X17mm ammunition were retrieved”, the statement added.
The suspect is currently in Police custody assisting investigations. While efforts are underway to put him before court for prosecution.
