The Environmental Services Providers Association (ESPA) has threatened to withdraw its services nationwide on November 7, 2025, if arrears owed to waste management contractors are not settled.
According to the Association, the government has failed to pay outstanding arrears for several months despite repeated appeals.
Executive Secretary of ESPA, Ama Ofori Antwi, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, warned that a suspension of services could have dire consequences for the country’s sanitation situation.
“As a matter of urgency, make payment to avoid a shutdown from November 7, 2025. We therefore appeal to the government for the immediate release of our outstanding payments owed to all waste management contractors by November 7. Without these interventions, service providers may be forced to suspend operations nationwide,” she stated.
ESPA is urging the government to act swiftly to avert a potential sanitation crisis that could result from the withdrawal of waste collection and management services across the country.
