Hundreds of applicants taking part in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on-going recruitment exercise at the Sunyani Coronation Park have expressed worry about the slow process of the exercise.

During a visit to the venue around 1400 hours, some of the applicants told Sompa FM that they arrived at the park around 0500 hours, describing the enlistment process as slow and frustrating.

Sompa FM gathered that many of them, mostly aged between 19 and 25 years, traveled from parts of the country to participate in the exercise in Sunyani.

One of them, Emmanuel Ntow, 21 years, said he and other applicants traveled from the Central Region to participate, and added that because they could not afford a hotel, they were just sheltering around the park.

“We have hired some mattresses and we pay GHC50 each day which is draining us”, he stated, and expressed the hope that the GAF would speed up the processes.

Mr Ntorbe Ayinasi, a parent who accompanied his son to participate in the exercise shared similar sentiments and added they traveled from Nzema to Sunyani “in fact the enlistment process is very slow and discouraging”.

Meanwhile, the recruitment exercise is going on smoothly at the Coronation Park without hitches as hundreds of applicants waited in long queues to undergo the screening.

Others were also noticed sitting patiently on the stands at the coronation park.

When contacted, some of the officers declined to speak, however, Sompa FM learnt that no incident had been recorded since the exercise commenced.
