The Berekum District Court has remanded Emmanuel Yeboah into prison custody in connection with a violent attack arising from a long-standing family dispute over a cashew farm, which has claimed the lives of two people.
Yeboah, who was initially charged with attempted murder and causing harm, has now been formally charged with murder following the deaths of the two victims.
He appeared before the District Court, presided over by His Worship Mr Augustine Akus-Am, who ordered that the accused be remanded into prison custody.
The suspect was earlier remanded into police custody by the Berekum Circuit Court, but the case has since been transferred to the District Court following the development.
According to the Bono Regional Police Command, Emmanuel Yeboah was arrested on January 3, 2026, after police received a report that two individuals had been attacked while on their way to a disputed cashew farm at Tainano in the Jaman South municipality of the Bono region.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Yeboah allegedly ambushed the victims, his brother and his brother’s wife during a confrontation linked to the ownership of the cashew farm.
Police said the dispute over the farm had persisted for a long time. A cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was retrieved at the scene and is being held as an exhibit.
The victims, who were initially admitted to a health facility for treatment, later died from the injuries they sustained.
Emmanuel Yeboah is expected to reappear before the Berekum District Court on January 27, 2026, as investigations continue.
The police statement was signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command.
