Rehabilitation and expansion work on the Sunyani-Abesim Road will begin by March this year, Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive has said.
He said the government had approved funding for the dualization of the stretch to help ease heavy vehicular traffic on the road, explain that the reshaping of the Adomako-Junction-Watchman portions of the Sunyani-Atronie Road would also commence soon.
Addressing a news conference in Sunyani, Mr Agyei explained that the assembly had already engaged traders along the Sunyani-Abesim Road, urging them to cooperate with the contractors.
Mr Agyei said the petty traders and shops along the road had pleaded for a grace period to remove their shops and containers, saying the Assembly expected them to vacate by the end of February for the work on the project to begin.
