The Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region has celebrated its 60th anniversary with a call on the government, and old students to come to their aid in addressing emerging development challenges in the school.

Mrs Nancy Arthur, the Headmistress of the school who made the call said the school needed more classroom blocks and other educational facilities for effective teaching and learning.
The anniversary was on the theme: “60 years of impactful education: honoring the past, shaping the future”.

In an interview with Sompa FM on the sidelines of a durbar held at the school’s premises at Bechem, Mrs Arthur commended the teachers, saying that with their support student discipline had improved.
Addressing the durbar, Miss Charity Gardener, the Ahafo Regional Minister said the government was in the process of recruiting over 6,000 teachers who would be posted to the local communities so as to address the deficit in the teacher-student ratio.

Mr Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) said the government acknowledged and appreciated the selflessness and sacrifices of teachers in advancing the growth of education in the country.
He gave the assurance that the government would tackle the teething challenges confronting the school.
